Men in Pattern

Working on a men's Autumn/Winter line for my fashion class, I have been living and breathing menswear. I came across Walter Van Beirendonck's fashion line, which I felt was very pattern inspired. His crazy hair does and wacky pattern mixes add a sense of spunk to this years menswear collections.

Paper Cuts

To say Matt Shlian takes paper and vellum to the fine art level would be an understatement. With a background and interest in engineering, Matt is more interested in the process of making his art than the final product. Not only does he make hanging installations, but he also makes flip books and even wearable creations. If interested, one can even take his paper engineering class where he clues students into his domain. This work is incredibly bold, and takes paper art from "crafty" to extraordinary.

Emerging Artist: Angela Hermida

Angela Hermida was carrying a huge canvas on the train while commuting to her classes for a critique at FIT.  We were on our way to New York City for our internships and we ran into her. Going to art school, we are always interested to see other artists and their styles. She caught our attention, and we wanted to give her credit for her amazing work! As artists in school struggling to find our own style, we aren't given enough credit for the sleepless nights and tireless efforts.  Look out for her, she is going somewhere in life. Her art spoke to us with her patterns and colors, and we hope that you get the same feeling.

Cute Little Stained Glass House

Having just learned about De Stijl and the idea of Utopian order, you can really get a sense of Tom Fruin's style. His geometric shapes when lit up reflect beautiful patterns on the floor. Its a cute little stained glass house!

We love this image so much that we had to share it. Take a close look at the pattern on the wall-you will wish those were your walls.

Collage It!

Shake things up and try to mix and match to create sweet looking collages like the ones we found on Space 15Twenty

Parting From Your Teddy Bear

Recycled Teddy Bear rugs are the only friendly way to kill an animal. From afar one could never tell that these are ripped apart childhood stuffed animals hand sewn together to create a rug. Soft and cozy but not quite cuddle friendly.

Gold-Flecked

Whimsical, vibrant, and sultry: three words that help describe the work of Gustav Klimt. Inspired by his gold engraving father, Klimt incorporated gold leaf into his oil paintings. His images are captivating at first glance with swirling prints and the delicate gaze of the femme fatale.
